The starting point for this series was a photograph by Cindy Sherman. She is standing by a roadside at dusk with a suitcase. Watchful, alone looking into the oncoming darkness, a bend in the road. The image resonated with me and was the starting point for these photographs. I wanted the work to evoke narrative; a single moment – like a film - What came before this image? What’s coming next?
